How Hosting Works

Okay, you’ve read all about the benefits of becoming a host blog. You’ve even signed up, so what happens next?

When you fill out the blog tour host application, you’ll receive an auto-generated confirmation email (if you don’t, it means something went wrong—you can email contact@novelpublicity.com to get a text version of the application).

We’ll add your information to our blog host database. Within the week, you can expect a follow up email from us, in which we may ask you a few follow-up questions to clarify some points.

If you already have more than 100 hits per day (on new post days), then we’ll activate you as a host right away. We’ll add a brief description of your blog to the “Our Host Blogs” page along with a screenshot of your blog.

If you have less than the 100 hits per day, we’ll set your host status to pending. We’ll then review your site and offer suggestions for how you can improve your traffic and reach the desired goal. We’ll give you tips on how to use other social media outlets to promote your blog and will also review the content, lay-out, and post frequency on your blog.

When an author contacts Novel Publicity for a blog tour, we’ll review his or her novel and select the bloggers we think are most likely to enjoy the work.

We will send out a host request to our selected bloggers, which will include the following information:

  1. the name of the author and book
  2. the book’s genre and page-count
  3. a one-page pitch of the novel
  4. a longer excerpt from the novel
  5. a link to the author’s website
  6. the desired tour dates

At this time, you can either agree to host the author or decline. You may decline for several reasons—maybe you are not impressed by the pitch or excerpt of this particular book, maybe it’s bad timing for you. Whatever the reason, you are under no obligation to agree to host an author.

So in summary, we prescreen the authors we think will be a good match for you and then let you make the final decision as to whether or not you’d like to host authors on a case-by-case basis.
